The problem

Every division had its own database. None of them talked.

A large swine and agriculture operation had grown over the years by adding divisions. Each one ran its own database. The same customer might show up three different ways in three different systems. Nobody had a clear picture of who was buying what, or how much.

Pulling a national sales report meant calling around, exporting spreadsheets, and hoping the numbers lined up. They rarely did. Leadership couldn't make fast decisions because the data was always behind.
